Background

Dr. Katolik, a Philadelphia native, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with his B.A. in International Relations. He then went on to earn his M.D., with honors, at Hahnemann University School of Medicine where he also completed his internship in general surgery.  Interested in pursuing a career that combined Orthopaedic practice and teaching, he completed his Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.  He was accepted into the Hand and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship Program at the University of Washington in Seattle.

From 2004 thru 2007, Dr. Katolik was Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and adjunct assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University Of Washington School Of Medicine. Upon returning to Philadelphia he has been Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine and hold additional faculty appointments including, AO North America, an international organization dedicated to the advancement of Orthopaedic trauma care.

Recipient of Several Awards and Honors

Dr. Katolik has earned numerous academic and research honors including an Excellence in Research award from the Orthopaedic Research Society, Chicago, Illinois and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor society.

He is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and holds positions within several academic organizations and committees, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.

A Specialized Clinician and Distinguished Author

Since 2004, Dr. Katolik has been an invited lecturer (nationally and internationally) on issues related to advanced hand surgery. He has been credited with dozens of publications in the Orthopaedic surgery literature and is a select editor for several teaching texts on hand surgery, care and conditions.

Practice Interests

Dr. Katolik's practice interests focus on reconstruction of the Upper Extremity and disorders due to trauma and arthritis.  He holds a particular interest in the field of Neuro- Orthopaedics and is one of very few practitioners to offer treatment for upper limb disorders following stroke and brain injury.
