Established in 1968, Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center, in conjunction with Thomas Jefferson University, hosts one of the longest running fellowship programs in the country.  We are proud to offer a ONE YEAR fully accredited (ACGME) Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship Program with six (6) Fellowship positions.

Eligible candidates will have completed the training requirements for their boards in Orthopaedic, General, or Plastic Surgery and are seriously motivated to study the sub-specialty of hand and upper extremity surgery.  Selection of Fellows is mediated through the National Matching Program in Hand Surgery.

Our programs are highly sought after as they are genuinely unique.  We offer a fully comprehensive hand and upper extremity clinical, surgical and research experience.  Fellows experience a reasonable balance of all injuries and conditions including trauma, reconstructions, congenital issues and chronic conditions.  Fellows operate under the supervision of the attending physicians and care for patients from initial evaluation to discharge.  Also unique are Pediatric focus, in conjunction with Shriners Hospital for Children, and the Shoulder and Elbow aspects of our programs.  A fully equipped microvascular laboratory with technical assistance is available to our fellows as well as a small joint arthroscopy anatomy lab for experience with dissection and training.  Research opportunities are not only offered but they are encouraged for the duration of the program.
